Duma deputy calls for state of emergency in Russia

MOSCOW - It is necessary to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Federation Council to consider the issue of declaring the state of emergency in Russia and canceling the presidential elections, Dmitry Rogozin, the co-chairman of the bloc Rodina (Motherland), told journalists today.

"Today's terrorist attack in the metro is the attempt to question existence of state power in the country," he said.

Seems to be those terrorists might be on the governments payroll, no? Cancelling elections?

Also, this:

Putin's rival goes missing: Moscow police on Sunday launched a manhunt for a candidate in next month's presidential election who is backed by self-exiled billionaire Boris Berezovsky and has been missing for three days.

Seems that whenever the Russians try to parrot American skullduggery they make a too obvious copy.

Russian Politics really.

I would guess this implies that Putin wins "hands-up" or "hands-down"?

Putin had this election all but sown-up anyhow, but it does raise an eye-brow or two....or three....
Seriously though, IMHO, the "rival" wasn't a major political rival of Putin, per se'. My feelings are that the Russian Mafia (Mafiya) got this guy for one reason or another. Merely speculation though on my part; nothing hard and factual to back this.

Question: Think this is 'revealing' a bit or bringing back a bit of those old Stalinist days?

....the regressive posture of red China versus Taiwan and Russia to favor the little guy's KGB homeboy hardliners.
Both nations can, and will, make the case for pre-emptive agression on a grand scale.
What leg will be left to stand on, when we need to cry foul against them?
Ask the UN to stop it?

UN? Hell no....they can't even keep their greedy paws out of the now defunct "Oil for Food Program," and needless to say, they are more worried about "control of the internet" then worrying about the long continued on-goings of genicide, starvation, and utter degradation that is and has been taking place in Africa. Hell no....cant expect the UN to stop a China "pre-emptive" policy on Taiwan or Russia's possible 2 or 3 areas of "pre-emptive" considerations....

The War on Terror and the use of the newly re-defined version of "pre-emptive," is going to allow others to be able to justly 'claim' the very same use and usage. Not good, but one that may have been deemed a calculated risk(s).
