Stumbled across this article on some early space station designs that the U.S had dating back to 1954 .

They also include reference to Wernher von Braun\\\\\\\'s 1946 prediction of the construction of space stations in orbit .

Very interesting read , hope you like .

Edit . Wanted to add something of interest , apparently as of right now there is only the one space station in orbit , ISS but In the past, there have been several other space stations – in the 1970s the United States operated one called Skylab, and the Russians have had several small ones called Salyut 1 through 7. The largest space station prior to the ISS was the Russian space station Mir.
