Police in southern India are hunting for two men who attacked a Hindu holy man, cut off his right leg and then made off with it.

The 80-year-old holy man, Yanadi Kondaiah, claimed to have healing powers in the leg.

He is now recovering from his ordeal in hospital in the city of Tirupati in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The article does go on the say that the local people believed his right leg had healing powers. As to why this was done the idea was also put forth it could have been revenge. I don't know what the local politics are like or anything about the area so I don't know if revenge is likely. I just hope the people who did this are found and punished.

I don't know and I don't particularly want to know. This could get much worse. There have been cases and rumors of this happening for the purpose of stealing organs. I really don't want to go there. This is just a horrible thing, and I hope the perpetrators are caught.
