I just got a pop up ad that said "if your cd-rom is open spy-ware can control your computer, you need to download our program now." I look down, and my hard drive was open.
wtf? since when can pop ups do # like that to your computer? if a cheap buisness ad can do this, God only knows what a hacker could do.

That didn't sounded at all like a normal pop-up, that sounded like a RAT (remote access trojan).

You should scan your computer for spywares and trojans.

Edit: BTW, google's toolbar does the best job ever at bocking pop-ups and ads.

This is an easy popup to create. They use Javascripts called Cup Holders...they eject your CD-Rom drive. What you need to do is download and install Zonealarm. If you can get the pro version. Its only 20$. I get these all the time and my CD-Rom never opens because my firewall stops them.
