You can see how the armor is placed within the turret. The modular armor I mean. Multiple layers.

And yet, he looks (the soldier) alive and kickin to me. Reminds me of the old Timex commercials..."takes a licking, and keeps on ticking".

Expected to see John Cameron Swayze pointing to it.

Any idea what hit it?

Don't know. I am certain it wasn't an RPG-7. Hezbollah has so many anti-tank weapons it could be any of the others that Iran helped supplied. Even the MILAN and TOWs.

The odd thing is that there doesn't seem to be any burn marks. I would imagine that if the tank had seen a maintenance team they would have had the good sense to at least cover it up - even if you have to use mud. The materials, layering, and spacing are usually considered secret or higher.

I would put real money on a 9M133 Kornet being used - Hezbollah have them and have killed Israel Merkava 4 with them before - they are a very deadly missile indeed.

edit:

hmmmm it could even have been the much easier to use and aquire RPG-29 - which allready has breached a challenger 2
