Study: Still a Chance Asteroid May Hit Earth in 2036

When it comes to 22-million-ton asteroids, the small stuff, it turns out, can make a huge difference in a potentially disastrous path toward Earth.

Using limited observations and lots of high-end computer modeling, astronomers have gotten a better handle on the limitations of asteroid-track forecasting in a new study of a potentially threatening asteroid called 99942 Apophis.

I guess we dont have to worry about global warming no more!

Can anyone tell this scientist or astronomers that when they are dealing with something that might mean the end of life on the planet to make sure they get the math right?

very interesting read indeed .....

I'm sure Bruce Willis and Ben Afleck will step forward
once again to rid us of the object
LOL

Laying all jokes aside though, I also read in that
article that NASA has plans maybe to build a cosmic
version of a bulldozer to push the object away from it's
flight path into earth.

However the ba part about that is nobody (even NASA)
knows how the object is gonna react when it passes the sun's
gravitational pull. That's the biggest unknown right now.
