A need for campaign exposure and lagging finances are the two reasons why prosecutors believe former congressional candidate Gary Dodds allegedly faked his disappearance following a car crash last year.
Dodds, 43, of 300 Sagamore Road, faces a felony charge of falsifying physical evidence and two misdemeanors stemming from his April 5, 2006, car accident on the Spaulding Turnpike. When rescuers arrived on scene, Dodds' vehicle was unoccupied and he was nowhere to be found.
