I found this article cruising new discoveries in the news.

www.world-science.net

Can you imagine living four centuries? Scientists say they’ve found an animal that did just that: a quahog clam, Arctica islandica, that lived and grew in the cold waters off Iceland’s north coast for at least that long.

Four hundred years! Only to be dredged up by scientists, how long could this clam have lived if it was allowed to remain in it's watery home?

Nature is amazing!

Reports that the scientists celebrated with a bowl of chowder remain unconfirmed

I find this infuriating. To kill it after 400 years of life is a desecration.
