While it is true that Ford is no longer around to answer whether or not such conversations took place I don't think that the claims are two far out
of character. I have to say that Ford presents a nice combination of loyalty and accurate perceptions of the situations that were at hand.
IMO Ford supported for Rudy because the former New York mayor sits on the same place on the political spectrum as Ford did. Given Ford support for gay
rights and the fact that he ensured that many refuges from South Vietnam found a home in the US my respect for the man has only grown.
