Jimmy has been racing really well. Now I'm sad that there are only two races left.

Okay now a rookie question. I always had the sense that the cars were all pretty much the same and winning really depended more on the driver's skill and strategic pit stops (and luck that you don't get stuck in a collision). But I also notice that Kurt is the only Dodge driver really up front. Is there a brand of car that tends to do better than others?

Some manuf. cars do better at certain tracks. Hendrick Motor Sports ( Chevy ) has been dominant this year becuase they were ahead of the curve with the new car style( COT ). THe Dodge nose has really confused some teams. When Dodge introduced the Avenger, it wasn't as a fast as the previous model because of the aerodynamics.

Hope that answers your question. I've only been following NASCAR for about 4-5 years but I'm passionate about it.

I've got a feeling the winner of Phoenix is going to come from outside the top 12 in points. In other words, a darkhorse. I think Dale Jr has a good car this week. Casey Mears was looking good in practice. If Jamie Mac and the Biff can keep it off the wall they might steal this one!

Thanks, that does help.

Jimmy is on a heck of a run. I missed most of the race because I went to the Skin's game this week we had to drown our sorrows post lost but I caught the highlights. Down to the last race...

Anytime.

Jeff Gordon must beside himself and cursing the "chase" format. He was 400 points in first place before the 12 race "chase" started. Then the top 12 drivers went back to zero ( plus 10 pts per win) and were essentially even again. Now he is sitting 100 points out of first place even though he has been the best performer this year.

JJ gets the credit he deserves and it's obvious there are "throw away" races during the year and the only ones that really count are the last 10 !!

NASCAR should revisit this "chase " format.

Hey guys..Jimmie's Racing from pole position tomorrow. If he pulls off a win again, it will be amazing...but I doubt it.I don't believe he will win the race on Sunday....close maybe.
However..I think he has the Nextel cup win in the bag.
What say you guys???

I let you know after today's practices.

I finally held on to first place in my yahoo league for 2 consecutive weeks.

We'll see after tomorrow if my picks for this week get me the trophy.

Unfortunately I used up JJ and cannot pick him this week

I have a gut feeling he'll make it 5 in a row!!

You really think 5 in a row? What are the odds there ? The odds of even winning from pole position are less than 50%.
I'm betting 3rd place for JJ. He is my fav...but...
Always willing to eat my words if wrong.

He's not the fastest in practice but barring any misfortune like a cut tire or lug nut falling off, he'll probably win it.

I'd love to see jimmy and jeff trading paint the last few laps for the win.

That would certainly make a great end to the season.

Oh for sure..but I don't think Jeff has it in him this time around. As long as Jimmie keeps Jeff eating his dust, I'm a happy camper.
