Famous physicist Stephen Hawking is once again in the hospital after suspicions that someone close to him may be torturing him.

"STEPHEN Hawking's family are "worried sick" he has again been the victim of a series of mystery assaults."

Its the mirror, so take everything with a large pinch of salt.

That would be sick though

One of the few things that genuinely saddens me.

I know its from the mirror but apparently this has been happening now for some time. Sad.

what gets me is that he won't make any official complaint about what's happening. When it was investigated in the past he threatened to sue for harrasment. Apparently one of his ex nurses is going to make a statement about what she witnessed his wife doing to him, but without a complaint from him, what powers do the police have to put a stop to it?

He wasn't in hospital for this.

It was for something else.A virus I think.

And Torture is overstating it a bit.I it makes a good headline but ...............................

Not a virus, but, Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy in which sufferers harm others to draw attention to themselves.

But it does not give an idea of who was suffering this syndrome.

What ??????

I've just checked he is in hospital with Pneumonia.

Crayon what are you on about?

I know the syndrom to which you refer.(incidently one that is currently being re-evaluated because the doctor is under scrutiny in the UK)

But what is the connection? Your saying his wife beat him to get sympathy?

Well the title of the article is "tortured". That is not necessarily true. The family believes he was assaulted. But the article does not say by whom. Authorities and the family believe it is this syndrome, but neither the article nor I can say who it is that is doing it.

Not sure who is assaulting him, but yeah, its to get sympathy.

Misread your post, thought you were saying the assault was the result of a virus. Not enough coffee. My bad.

John bull1 about crayon

Manchousen by proxy is where a mother or caretaker will hurt there child
or make them sick.. they have major psych problems and will go to
these hurtful lengths to gain attention....in other words they don't feel
good unless someone else is suffering.

Yes but Munchausen's by proxy is a syndrom to gain sympathy.
When both husband and wife are hiding the injuries Munchausen's by proxy is not an option.
If it is anything it is just common assault.

If anything!

And it is certainly not Torture!

Maybe not torture, but marriage/torture can be a fine line anyway.

But seriously, I remember when they got married...it seemed soooo bizarre. Looking at her, looking at him...and asking yourself...why?

I bet she just pokes and jabs at him a bit asking: Dead yet? $$$

They could be into slight S&M and don't want anyone to bother them about it. It appears consensual, at least on some level.

Professor Stephen Hawking has rejected claims he has been assaulted and has dismissed media reports about his personal life as completely false.

I sincerely hope that this story isn't true, not only for Prof. Hawking's sake but for personal reasons. I have ALS, same disease as he has, and the images it brought up literally kept me up all night. yikes.

I'm lucky to have family and friends who really care for me, but who wants to be that completely helpess? Like I need help being paranoid!

NURSES kept a secret red book listing every alleged assault on Stephen Hawking by his wife over five years.

The dossier, uncovered by the Mirror, will now be handed to police.

Carers noted down each claimed incident from soon after Professor Hawking's 1995 marriage to second wife Elaine, 53, until 2000. A nurse said: "It's all police need to prove cruelty.

isnt he supposedly the smartest man in the world? why did he get married?

plenty of opportunistic people would like to get close to a man smart enough to build new kinds of bombs

If he is enduring longterm abuse by someone close to him (maybe his wife) & not complaining, it seems to me he is protecting someone.

IMO, it's either his ego or his wife.
