OK here's a challenge for you. You are stranded on a desert island with a solar powered cd player. Which 10 albums out of your collection would you like to be your desert island discs ?

these are mine. It was quite hard to wittle it down to 10. I decided not to chose any of my "hits" or "now thats what I call music " compilations cause I ususally get bored of listening to the latest chart releases after a while.

The best of R.E.M.

Led Zepplin - the early days

The very best of the moody blues

A rush of blood to the head- coldplay

Bowie- the ultimate collection

Duran Duran greatest hits

The Beatles blue album 1967-1970

Escapology- Robbie Williams

Echoes- the best of pink floyd

Queen-greatest hits I

I don't know if I'm showing my age a bit with some of my choices.mind you some of them are before my time anyway, I just grew up with my parents playing them.

I've actually heard of most of yours elevatedone . I was agonising over whether to have rolling stones forty licks or not. It just missed out narrowly to Queen.

I know that age will play a part in peoples taste in music but I expect that there will be quite a difference depending on which side of the pond you come from. There are a lot of american groups that I've not heard of and a lot of british groups that never managed to break america.

"Greatest hits" and other compilations ought not to be allowed in comparative desert island selections, according to Rolling Stone and NME and the like.

I will return to this some time, but not before including Primal Scream's "Screamadelica" and The Stooges' first album.
