2 on 9/11 Panel Are Questioned on Earlier Security Roles

ASHINGTON, Jan. 14 � The executive director of the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks has become a witness in the inquiry and has been interviewed by his own staff about his involvement in shaping the Bush administration's early counterterrorism strategy, officials said on Wednesday.

In addition, one of the 10 commissioners on the panel, a deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration, was also interviewed this week. The unusual dual roles of the director, Philip D. Zelikow, and the commissioner, Jamie S. Gorelick, have raised fresh questions about potential conflicts of interest in the commission, which has been dogged by concerns about its independence since it was created in 2002.

Is it just me or shouldn't people who are somehow connected to 9-11 not be involved in the investigation of 9-11! Isn't this spose to be a nonpartisan investigation?

I read a couple weeks ago on how a member of the 9-11 investigation was digging too deep, and Bush gave him a job in a higher position. It is so obvious that they have something to hide. Bush originally selected Henry Kissinger to head the investigation.......that should of told us everything we need to know on the Bush Administrations real intentions into solving 9-11.

These conflicts of interest were fully known before appointments to the Commission were made, and they are just further signs of the depths to which the incumbent administration will sink in order to obfuscate and cover up the truth.

Still, even after the current round of investigations, it is a citizen-led truth commission that will get the sordid details out as the bureaucratic eqnquiries will not.
