Who made a decision to create a "reply to" functionality in threads?

I like it. This will be very nice. It'll save me the trouble of accidentally quoting whole posts. Who recommended this change be made?

well if you dont want us quoting how about giving us an alternative like "reply to:"

OK i couldn't help but laugh my backside off with this. I am with you sanctum. No insult intended to the OP; it is the normal case of a post containing a link for further reading, so that the boards do not replicate 100,000 another websites, and a reader/poster totally ignores the link and continues forth on the same line of questioning without taking a minute to go and enlighten/enrich themselves with the content of such links.
