You make an interesting point and it is something I hadn't considered before you mentioned it. Smirkley was following DIVINE STRAKE and the REAL intent behind it for quite some time. I would NOT put it past the feds to do something like this - they have done it to us here in the West before.

Thanks for posting this alternative theory to the earthquake vs. mine collapse debate.

. These reports state that this massive explosion was first detected by Russia's Cosmos-2422 HEO (highly-elliptical orbit) satellite, (which is designed for the detection of American ballistic missiles) at 08:48:40 UTC August 6 at the US Dugway Proving Ground Test Range in Utah, and which exactly corresponds to the time of a reported 3.9 Magnitude Earthquake occurring at the exact same location."

im from salt lake as well and i think you may be mistaken. the dugway proving grounds is a few hundred miles north and a couple hundred miles west of the mine site. and if there was a test out at dugway why wouldnt there be any effects on the wasatch fault which is ALOT closer to the proving grounds and is a more active fault than the small secondary fault lines in central utah.
also why wern't there any reports at ANY other mines ? heres a list of mines that are very close to dugway.. some of them even say dugway

They just got a microphone down to where they believe they are and don't hear anything.

It doesn't look good.

*BREAKING NEWS*

The other hole has entered and they were supposed to have a news conference over an hour ago. It has been postponed indefinetly.

They have seen a lot of action so something is going on. They are talking to the families right now.

To me the owner seemed a bit chippy when he talked breifly to the media earlier after the second drill bit enetered so maybe they are alive. The are inserting or already inserted the camera right now into the 9 inch drill hole.

You may call me crazy if you wish, but i am remembering something i read around here, or perhaps on Tinwiki, regarding an incident in a coal mine in the 1900's.

What i read was that the miners were also using this "retreat" mining technique, and when they entered the mine again to get the coal, they found what was a large cavern. Here's the cincher: The cavern had cement blocks in it. Big, shiny, cement blocks. When they hit a wall of the cavern with a pickaxe, it fell down revealing a whole wall made of cement blocks. When they went back the next day, however, after reporting this to thier supervisor, that section of the mine was sealed off and they were told not to speak of it.

Forgive me if i butchered the story, but thats as well as i can recall it. My paranoid and iquisitive mind wonders: Could this be a similiar occurence, perhaps? How often have miners found such things only to be killed in a "mine collapse". Just my wonderings >.>

They just had a new update about the cameras, still no word on if they have survived.

Seems water blurred the horizontal camera so they are going to case the 9 inch hole and retry.

However they did bang on the drill bore steel and there was no response.
They say there is survivable air and more than 5 feet of clearance from the ceiling..

I'll be very surprised if they find anyone alive down there. It doesn't sound like they'll even be able to get to the area for at least another week to me (and I think that's being optimistic).

Oh, and yeah, that mine owner guy is creepy!

Apparently they heard some vibrating from the third hole, but it wasn't necessarily made by the miners.

I still think that even if they survived the initial collapse, they must be gone by now.

I think they may be alive. I have that feeling.

That tapping they heard was a timed tapping- not clinging and rocks falling.
Debris doesnt fall in a timed way.

I sure hope its them sending a signal!

This whole thing just breaks the heart.

My dad was a miner when he was young and we've been watching this over the last week. We got talking about the geophone vibrations tonight and he is of the opinion that it is the ground continuing to settle after the initial collapse - that if it was the miners there would be a distinct pattern to the vibration. I asked him if he thought they were still alive. He told me that his gut told him that they died during the initial collapse, but if somehow they did survive it that they could live down there for a few weeks because of all the water. He's quite torked about the mine operation down there and believes that not only were they retreat mining but that they did it in a half arsed way in pulling down one side first causing the other sidel wall to blow in sideways.

My hope remains that they are alive and that they can hold on a day or two longer.

The owner/CEO/whatever talks to squirrels!!!

I just found this:

The way Murray tells it, he had just been let go in 1987 as CEO of North American Coal Company and was feeling extremely down about the whole situation. At home one day, Murray was sitting on his back porch, contemplating his future, when he was approached by a squirrel. Murray says the squirrel hopped up next to him, looked him square in the eye and said "Bob Murray, you should be operating your very own mines." Unfortunately for UMWA miners, this seemingly intelligent rodent wasn't too keen on fairness, so it neglected to add the words "and make sure you treat your workers the way you would want to be treated."

www.umwa.org...

Wow, this is funny if true. I wouldn't take anything he says seriously anymore.

Of course this is from a union with a grudge against him, so it might be a lie to make him look bad.

Djohn, why are you being so hard on that man? He talks to squirrels like The Old Man and the Sea talked to fish. He's not weird or out of his mind, he seems genuinely concerned for those men.
He probably hasnt slept in 10 days now.
Have a heart.

The alleged squirrel incident happened like 20 years ago.

Is he a Mormon? Seriously, considering the mode of information.

it's been like 11 days now...those dudes are dead.
i know nothing about mining obviously but it seem that more could have been done...i don't know...

they're digging all these holes and doing oxygen tests....all that takes time.

when they explained how big of an area they could be in, i couldn't believe it..i was thinking of a little pocket but these miner dudes are talking hundreds of feet long and a couple hundo wide....now what gets me, is they drop this camera in the hole and i am watching it and you can see like what, 10 feet in front of the lens.

what the hell good is a 10 foot vantage point going to do?

it's really sad...

The sixth hole revealed no open space at all:

www.nytimes.com...

HUNTINGTON, Utah (AP)-- The latest hole drilled into a collapsed mine where six men are trapped broke through an area too small for the men to survive, a lawyer for several of the men's families said Saturday.

''The only thing they told us is there is no void where the sixth hole is; there is no space,'' attorney Colin King said after a meeting between the families and mine officials.

King said the families were disappointed by the news.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

It looks to me like that mine will be those six men's permanent grave.
