Hello,

How does one find the IP address from an email sent to you?
Will it signify the individual computer?
Or do computers in the same unit/house share an IP address?

Thanks Guys

you need to open the email up and go into VIEW, click on message options, hopefully you have XP?

The box will display return path and under that it will have received from. In [ ] it will have the IP number.

Copy it and use a IP search database to find the location.

cheers

Hay thanks,

But does it target a single PC, or just the location/house?

If the message was sent from within a private network (behind a router, firewall, or domain) then the specific computer won't be identified, just the public IP.
