British army ends N. Irish mission

The British army ends at midnight Tuesday its 38-year role supporting police in Northern Ireland, its longest military operation ever.

In Crossmaglen, a heartland for Irish nationalists in the British-ruled province who want a united Ireland, residents are still dealing with the legacy of fierce clashes between Republican gunmen and British forces.

Well, this comes as welcome news, indeed. After 38 bloody years of violence between British forces and Irish Nationalists, the "war" is finally over. New British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown had promised change in that area and it looks like he has kept his word.

As an American whose ancestry is almost exclusively Irish, I am very excited, especially since my great, great grandfather( on my Mother's side) was born in Derry in N. Ireland and my Great Grandmother and Grandfather (on my dad's side) came from Ireland as well.

My loyalty may be to the red, white & blue but if you cut me, I bleed green, and no mistake.
