Rover finds first sign of volcanic explosion on Mars

Home Plate, a light-coloured feature in Mars's Gusev Crater, was likely formed by explosive volcanic eruptions, NASA's Spirit rover reveals. It is the first sign of such violent activity yet found on the planet.

still more info is coming in the spirit rover is doing very well although it is almost more then 2 years on mars it got almost as much power generation as it came from the cleanroom on earth.

so it is looking more and more that mars had a wet past.
