STRANGE glowing clouds over the poles!

Yet to see any myself, but there were some fine displays of noctilucent clouds visible from the UK last summer

Whilst they've always existed, they do seem to be becoming more common, and visible over a wider area.

these brigades of technicions & meteorologists are all on the public payroll
and need 'work to perform'
plus the scientific mindset says they must discern & understand the phenomonea, after poring over mountains of data collected over time...
exactly the paradigm NOAA, NASA, and Universitiey (grant research) is busy doing.

imo, the last sentence in your article link hints at the cause....
the earth's elliptical orbit,
i'd add to that, the earth's probably in the maximum tilt of its orbital plane
thereby making the suns angle reflect super high altitude icy crystal clouds
to areas further distant from the poles,
than when the earth's orbit is more in line with the theoretical equatorial plane of the sun, and the nocturnally-lit clouds were only visible near the acrtic or antarctic circles.



'reading' something into the apparent 'anomaly' is a natural thing to do,
until one examines the parts & deconstructs the 'strangeness'...

but by the time the processes are known- - - pop culture legends & spins on the glowing-clouds seen in the sky have probably rooted themselves in the common conscious, & grew into
somethin akin to superstition thru word-of-mouth....
and the real facts are probably lost
because the truth is so unglamorous and mundane

Well, I think for the time being it's hard to say what is causing the phenomenon. I personally think we must wait until the AIM spacecraft sends images and data. It will allow us to study these clouds closer.
