I just noticed this at Groom Lake while searching Google Earth:



What is this? I've never seen a structure like this before. Can anyone tell me anything about the structure in this picture ?

What you are looking at is the conveyor belt system in the concrete/asphalt plant. This was built sometime in the 90's to supply concrete for the new runway and later the new taxiway.

Cool, Thanks Gfad! I've never seen this before. If Groom has it's own Concrete and asphalt plant, that would suggest they plan to do some large-scale expansion.

The concrete and asphalt batch plants have been at Area 51 for many years. They were put to good use during construction of runways, taxiways, parking aprons and various other facilities.
