I hope share with you my ideas with out making my self sound like a fool or a bigot.

My wife and I were talking about illegal immigration. I one of the may things about this issue I was confused by was why would some members of law in forcement officer be told to "Go easy " on illegal immigrants while putting the screws to U.S. citizens over the same issues such as checking for I.D.

And example for this would be police officer will not ask a suspected illegal immigrant for I.D. while going ... well for a lack of a better word berserk on a U.S. citizen with an expired driver licence .

Now I am sure some have heard or have first hand knowledge to some of this unfair treatment of U.S. citizens while an an illegal gets a treated better than the rest of us. So I won't list all the ones I heard and can't prove anyway. This is not a thread about bashing people.

I began to think about what purpose could this type of behavior by our government serve. After about 2 minutes of pondering this, a light went off.

What if the purpose of this imbalance in justice is cause division in groups of people so they will be at each others throat blaming each for there troubles so the won't pay attention to the real creators of the problem?

" Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. " - Wizard of OZ

I then began to think what if Latino community is being set up as the fall guy for the collective problems in our country. I.E. loss of jobs, gangs, drug, etc.

Could we in America adopt the same attitudes towards illegal immigrants the Nazis had for the people of Jewish faith ?

Is this current purpose of the F.E.M.A camps and REX 84 ?

I would like to think not, but I do know that the population can be fooled.

And it might not just be illegal immigration used to to divide us. Think about all the racial and gender issues we are separated on.

Instead of just saying I'm an American some of us describe ourselves as African-American, Mexican- Americans and other nonsense that only divides us more.

My father was a immigrant from Samoa and I never thought of my self as a Samoan-American. First and foremost I was a human, then I was an American.

I hope I have not angered anyone I just wanted to share my ideas and promote some thinking on this issue.

If we are to move forward we must put a aside these petty differences that keep us apart and learn to work together.

The two are not the same. The Jews were not invading other countries for welfare and to leech off others.

The illegals have no right to be here in the first place. Both the corporations and the elites in addition to the illegal invaders are to blame.

In response to Jessicamsa:

I reread what I wrote it and I don't see how completely compared the illegal immigrants in America today to the Jews of Europe in the 1930's.

The point I was trying to make is was the idea of illegal immigrant's being used as an excuse for all for all that wrong in our country, akin to how the Jews were blamed for that was wrong in Germany.

Most of the news I hear just wants to be angry at illegal immigrants, and say things like the loss of jobs is there fault, the drugs are there fault etc etc.

Rarely is any blame for the immigration problem fairly and equally shared with the businessmen and women who would rather hoard there money and employ cheap labour instead of hiring an American citizen at a fair wage.

If the American government really wanted to stop illegal immigrants they would. But the serve much better as scape goat and distraction for the real trouble makers.

What I believe is this.

The issue of illegal immigrants will be used as a tool to take way more civil liberties from Americans like the War on Terrorism.

I believe in a secure border

I believe in American citizens coming first in America.

I believe in finding the real enemy

But don't believe in blaming the servant for what the master does.

More than likely by stating everything I just did, I have made an enemy or two.

...manna from heaven would be a large fries from McDonalds.

...the false idol to worship would be the American Idol.

...the only sea to part would be the sea of people shopping at Wal Mart on Christmas eve.

...the burning bush would be.....well, you can insert your own right here.

The Latino Community is not a humanitarian disaster. It is rather the choice of people to leave their country in the face of great hardship. IMHO, I can not understand, and please somebody explain to me, why it is that a vast majority of Latinos who are (in my estimation) more closely from Latin Azteca/Mayan extraction instead of the Spainiard lineage seeking to leave their land??

In the United States, our government, in all its wisdom, first made the mistake of trying to exterminate Native Americans, but then decided in the end that reserving land for them was in everybody's better interest. If you go to a reservation today, they are in a state of change, but the reservations are crumbling and allowing people opportunity to rise beyond the boundaries of those communities...but serious poverty still exists on those reservations unless, of course, they've developed or plan to develop a casino. And then, even still....

The point is, someone is luring the Latino Community here. And if they are smart, they will see beyond the social trappings laid down for them like so much crack coc aine in the form of "promised land" offerings.

This is a land of opportunity, this United States. I am, however, unconvinced of our population's capacity to integrate such an enormous influx of culturally and (perhaps this is a bit of a stretch) racially diverse people in such a short period of time. We screwed it up with the Injuns (forgive the perjorative), I'm not sure we're gonna do much better with the Lation Community.

Especially when there is STILL the issue of domestic poverty to address adequately.

All interesting points but I don't think it's goes much deeper than simple myopic greed. There are of course people who will try to use the situation to their advantage in any way they can so there will be a lot of 'spinoffs'.
It's really nothing new, my families people immigrated to this country several generations ago and the men worked in coal mines and steel mills for next to nothing because it's the only work they could get. The main thought of said peoples existence was to make things better for their kids and quite a few of them done a fine job of it too. I see a lot of that in some of the Mexican guys I work with so wth, maybe some good will come of it.
I haven't heard much about police letting immigrants off for things like id but I'd say it's more a case of there's not much to be gained by charging them. The people who get away with the most crap are the ones with nothing to lose. A person who can afford fines, lawyers, higher insurance costs ect. keeps food on their 'sectors' tables.
-We're all learning the hard way that unbridled capitalism certainly has its dark side for the masses.

Capitalism should be a result of politics, not politics in and of itself.
