The way forward will only be found after Bush and his cronies leave the Whitehouse. After Bush admin has left office the person who unwisely ran and got elected will face the crushing political and military problem that Iraq is. The person in question will play a Ford like role in the sense that he/she will have to heal the deep divisions in the USA and only serve one term.
