WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A 125 million-year-old fossil found in northeast China is probably the oldest known ancestor of modern marsupials, U.S. and Chinese researchers said on Thursday.

Marsupials are quite amazing considering at birth they have to trek all the way up to the pouch. The little guys are almost embryonic too. Than they have to latch onto a teat, in order to survive. I had a pet possum when I was a child. It gave birth to 13 babies, but the mother only had 10 teats. So it's a matter of who gets out first and makes it to the dinner table.
