Defending champions and Ligue 1 leaders Lyon recorded a thrilling 3-2 win against local rivals St Etienne in the Rhone derby match.
On the back of a superb 3-0 Champions League win at Werder Bremen, Lyon stretched their lead to nine points over second-placed Marseille but their
closest pursuers and third-placed Lille will both be in action tomorrow. Sylvain Wiltord gave Lyon the lead in first-half stoppage time and after the
break Florent Malouda and Pierre-Alain Frau put them three ahead. St Etienne reduced the arrears when Pascal Feindouno scored after 55 minutes and
then Lilian Compan scored another with a minute remaining.
A good day got even better for Lyon when fourth-placed Monaco lost 2-1 at Nice. Florent Balmont put Nice ahead only for David Gigliotti to equalise
for Didier Deschamps' side but Ederson then struck the winner for Nice.
A Selim Benachour penalty was sufficient to give Paris St Germain a 1-0 win over Bastia.
Caen came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Bordeaux who had surged in front through Marouane Chamakh and Jean-Claude Darcheville. Sebastien Mazure
and Anthony Deroin hit back for the strugglers from Normandy.
Nantes beat Strasbourg 2-1 with Olivier Quint scoring the winner for Les Canaris. Earlier Mamadou Niang had equalised Claudiu Keseru's opener for
Nantes.
The match between Ajaccio and Lens finished goalless.
