Sheffield Wednesday took advantage of their chief rivals' FA Cup involvement to close in on the top three in Coca-Cola League One.
Joey O'Brien and Kenwyne Jones were both on target as the fourth-placed Owls beat Swindon 2-0 at Hillsborough in one of only three games in the
O'Brien opened the scoring five minutes before the interval before Jones made sure of the points on 69 minutes.
Doncaster also picked up three points as they claimed a 2-0 victory over Port Vale at the Earth Stadium.
Rovers scored at the end of each half through Tim Ryan and Paul Green.
The day's other match between Huddersfield and Torquay at the Galpharm Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.
Efe Sodje headed Huddersfield into the lead after 24 minutes, but Torquay claimed a share of the spoils through Kevin Hill just before the hour.
