Emile Heskey's header in the eighth minute proved to be the game-winner as Birmingham beat Manchester City for its first win of the season Tuesday.
The home team's Stan Lazaridis sent a cross to Heskey, who powerfully headed the ball into the top-right corner of the net.
The match was sloppy, with neither team creating many chances. Birmingham improved to 1-1-1 while City fell to 0-2-1.
In the other Premiership contest Tuesday, Chelsea earned its third win in as many chances with a 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace.
New signing Didier Drogba opened the scoring with a header in the 27th minute, and Portuguese star Tiago netted the insurance goal in the 73rd minute.
