San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Lindsay Davenport continued her red-hot summer with a straight-set victory over Anastasia Myskina in Sunday's final
of the Acura Classic.
The fourth-seeded Davenport rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory for her 14th straight match win and her third consecutive tournament title.
The 28-year-old native of California, who also won this title in 1998, has been unstoppable recently. She beat Venus Williams in the final in Stanford
two weeks ago and bested both Williams sisters en route to her title in Carson last week.
Davenport also won three straight California titles in 1998 when the former world No. 1 won at Stanford, Los Angeles and Carlsbad before capturing her
first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open.
The three-time major champion claimed her WTA Tour-leading fifth singles title of the year and the 42nd of her illustrious career.
Myskina, the third seed and 2004 French Open champ, was trying for her third title of the year and the ninth of her career.
Davenport collected $189,000 for the victory.
