San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers have signed wide receiver Eric Parker to a three-year contract. Financial terms of the deal
were not disclosed.
Parker was the team's fourth-leading receiver last season with 18 catches for 244 yards and three touchdowns, despite playing in just eight games
because of a shoulder injury.
In addition, he averaged 9.0 yards on 23 punt returns.
"He's the kind of player that we can count on," said Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer. "He meets the criteria of the guys that we're looking
for -- hard-working, purposeful, willingness to work extra. Those are the players we want on our team. Certainly, when you are able to have one like
Eric, I think that you need to reward them. That's what we've done."
The 25-year-old Parker has 35 receptions for 512 yards and four touchdowns in two seasons with the Chargers.
"I'm just excited that I got everything done," Parker said. "I just want to play football at a very high level and remain healthy."
