American Juan Diaz captured the World Boxing Association lightweight title with a unanimous decision over the champion, Mongolia's Lavka Sim.

The 20-year-old, fighting in front of his home-town crowd in Houston, Texas, looked strong throughout in his first title fight.

He got the nod 118-110, 118-111 and 116-112 to extend his run to 25-0.

On the undercard, featherweight Rocky Juarez made his record 21-0 with a unanimous win over Zahir Raheem.

Main Events Promotions scored a clean sweep with their three fight HBO special from Houston, Texas. In the headliner, Twenty year-old Houston wunderkind Juan Diaz showed his boxing wizardry and sheer grit, in taking a unanimous decision win over defending WBA lightweight champion tough guy Lakva Sim, from Mongolia. From the opening moments of the action packed title bout, Diaz - 25-0 (12) - produced stellar boxing moments, via top flight combination punching and championship level determination. The champion Sim, did not lose the battle of determination nor the test of wills. This was a man set to win at all costs, within the rules, and fighting as if his very life depended on keeping his WBA belt. From the bedrock of their opposing passions came a wondrous contest.
