WARSAW, Poland (AP) - A Polish weightlifter who won a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics tested positive for a steroid and is expected to be barred
from the Athens Games.
Szymon Kolecki will undergo further tests in a week, Marek Golab, an official with the Polish Union of Weightlifters, said Friday. The results will
determine whether Kolecki will compete at next month's Olympics.
"The way it looks right now, he doesn't stand much of a chance," Golab said.
Kolecki tested positive June 26 for the anabolic steroid nandrolone, Golab said.
Three other Polish lifters who had planned to compete in Athens already have been disqualified for the games because of positive tests for banned
substances, Golab added.
