The IBF has bowed to pressure from promoter Don King and allowed Chris Byrd a rematch with Andrew Golota.
Jameel McCline was named Byrd's mandatory challenger by the IBF two weeks ago.
But it has now announced the winner of Byrd-Golota II, likely to take place in September at Madison Square Garden, must fight McCline within 90 days.
Byrd drew with Poland's Golota in April with both fighters claiming they had won the fight.
Undisputed light middleweight king Ronald "Winky" Wright, who is not promoted by King, was recently stripped of his IBF belt after Shane Mosley agreed
to a rematch.
