Newcastle United striker Tresor Lomana Lua Lua has joined Portsmouth on loan for the rest of the season after rejecting the chance to go to Leeds United, while John Curtis has also joined Pompey. The African striker was expected to move to Elland Road as part of the deal that saw Michael Bridges swap West Yorkshire for St James' Park.

Harry Redknapp has been keen to add further strength to his attacking options due to injuries and he has now swooped for the tricky African. Lua Lua was banned from DR Congo's final match of the African Cup of Nations and so was able to return to seal a move to Fratton Park.

Redknapp has been a busy man throughout the transfer window and completed a double deadline-day swoop by making a surprise move for Leicester defender John Curtis. The former Blackburn Rovers stopper has signed on a free transfer and has penned an 18-month deal with Pompey
