West Ham midfielder Shaun Newton has been hit with a seven-month ban for failing a drugs test. The 30-year-old tested positive for coc aine
following West Ham's FA Cup semi-final with Middlesbrough on April 23. Newton was subsequently suspended by his club on May 20 and an FA Disciplinary
Commission has confirmed his ban will run from that date.
He was the last person that i would have though of to take drugs. He seems such a sensible person and he's a no nonsense player. He said it was a one
off occurance that was due to him being depressed. I think it was a night out with the lads and he went a bit too far.
