Everton: Stubbs set for new deal

Everton's Alan Stubbs is on the verge of agreeing a new contract that will see him end his playing days at Goodison Park.

The 33-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season, and he is one of 11 Everton players who are waiting on new deals.

The former Celtic star, who joined The Toffees in 2001, insists he is not fretting about his contractual situation, but is hopeful of finalising new terms in the near future.

"People go on about us being 12 points ahead of Liverpool, but we're more concerned at being just four points behind Chelsea," Stubbs said.

"We are looking above, not below. It would be foolish to let it slip after doing so well.

"Our focus remains at the top and that's where it will stay because we're good enough."
