Jose Mourinho has targeted winning the Carling Cup from the moment he set foot inside Stamford Bridge.

The reason the former Porto coach wants to win the competition the other Premiership big guns treat with contempt, is solely down to his desire to end the their four-year wait for silverware and ensure he fulfils the terms of his contract with the club.

Mourinho is well aware that success means trophies and winning the Carling Cup, however belittled it may be by his counterparts at the top of the Premiership, would be a fine start for the Blues boss.

they way it is going it looks like they will win more than just the carling cup lol. winning it is not beyond them and am sure getting any trophy, can raise spirit even more.

if porto didnt win the uefa cup a few seasons back, i doubt they would have won the champions league the following season. it really does set a foundation to build on

A cup is a cup at the end of the day.

I don't care if its the Carling Cup, it's silverware. All these so called BIG sides who say it's not worth winning is talking crap.

If a top side get knocked out in the Champions League and dont win the Prem then they would settle for the Carling Cup!
