Bolton have registered an interest in signing Roma defender Vincent Candela. Reports over the weekend claimed Bolton were keeping tabs on the Frenchman and skysports.com can reveal they are one of a number of clubs keen on the versatile defender.
Candela looks set to leave Roma with the player not figuring regularly in the side this season. The 31-year-old is considering his future, with his contract expiring at the end of the season and, as yet, no new deal has been offered. The player's agent Alexander Kristic revealed Bolton had made contact regarding Candela and that the player is pondering a move away from Roma in the summer.

Vincent Candela is reported to have cancelled his contract with Roma as he closes in on a move to Bolton Wanderers. The former France international is believed to have annulled the remaining six months on his deal with Roma to facilitate a switch to The Premiership. The full back has become frustrated at his lack of opportunities at Roma this season and is primed to leave the Eternal City. England appears to be his preferred choice and he visited Bolton on Friday to discuss a contract and view the club's facilities.

Bolton's Premiership rivals Southampton were also believed to be interested but a move to The Reebok Stadium is in the pipeline.

big sam is pretty conifdent a deal can be done

Sam Allardyce is confident Vincent Candela will sign for Bolton before the close of the transfer window.

The French full back has a deal with Italian side Roma that expires in the summer, but is keen to leave in January.

His lack of first team chances at Stadio Olimpico had led to him becoming increasingly frustrated, and he is eager to take the lifeline offered to him by Bolton.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has spoken of his delight after completing the signing of Roma full back Vincent Candela.

The talented Frenchman, who will wear number 23, joins Bolton on a five-month contract and appears to be a significant coup for the North West outfit.

Candela has been frozen out at the capital club this term but at 31, still looks an astute piece of business by Allardyce.

Bolton Wanderers defender Vincent Candela has reportedly agreed a deal to join Udinese.

Candela linked up with The Trotters in January from Roma and made 12 appearances for Sam Allardyce's men.

He was offered a contract to stay at The Reebok Stadium to help the club on their European debut in next season's Uefa Cup.

yer. i dont really know how he faired to be honest, i remember when Roma won the league and he was amazing, him and Cafu were really vital to that team. he was back up player to Lizarzu a few years back at national level. so he has experience and he must be good.

maybe playing in the league, its a different style in the Prem compared to Italy, maybe that affected his game

Not speaking great English probably didn't help, plus the back four at Bolton are never settled so it's hard to strike up a partnership with those aorund you.

Vincent Candela has signed for Udinese after shunning the chance to stay at Bolton Wanderers.

The experienced full back had joined Bolton in January from Roma and had been on a contract until the end of the season.

Trotters boss Sam Allardyce had been hoping to hang on to Candela as the club prepare for their debut campaign in the Uefa Cup.
