Aston Villa manager David O'Leary has told Lee Hendrie that he is "sick" of seeing the midfielder's private life splashed across the newspapers.

O'Leary is full of praise for the attitude and commitment shown by Hendrie when at the training ground and during matches.

But he is fed up with one incident after another involving the once capped England player filling the news pages of the tabloids.

Only this week 27-year-old Hendrie has been the subject of media reports over an alleged relationship with the 17-year-old daughter of Birmingham manager Steve Bruce.

However, O'Leary admits that he cannot consider dropping Hendrie from his side because of a severe shortage of players at his disposal.

He is a twat, thinks he is some sort of cassanova. No wonder O'leary is pissed with him.

Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has been told to change his lifestyle off the pitch by Villa Park boss David O'Leary.

The 27-year-old one-time England international has netted three times in his last four games and O'Leary wants that sort of form to become the norm from the talented playmaker.

He said: "Lee has to take a look at himself. He's a ducker and a diver.

"The only person who can change that is himself. He's 27 years of age now, but sometimes I think he's 27 going on 18.

"I've said to him 'Lee, you're 27 years of age now, you've got two kids, have a think about things son'.

i can understand why o'leary is sick of this, players are supposed to be role models for thousands of kids. acting like a playboy aint gonna do much for him on the pitch

seems like he is getting more angry with the player

"You had to back the player up fully over what happened against Manchester City and what happened to Lee was a disgrace - but he does get booked for silly things," said O'Leary.

"With the size of the squad that we have, you cannot afford to have players being ruled out through unnecessary suspensions.

"All his bookings generally come from mouthing off and that's where he has to change things big style.
