Portsmouth: Pompey eye crouch

Portsmouth are ready to raid South Coast rivals Southampton for the services of Peter Crouch.

Southampton's relegation means Harry Redknapp will need to cull his playing staff and of his current squad, Crouch is the player who would attract the highest bid.

The in-form striker, recently drafted into Sven Goran Eriksson's squad, played for Portsmouth in 2001-02 and enjoyed a productive campaign under then manager Redknapp.

Harry Redknapp has warned former club Portsmouth it will take a substantial offer to prise Peter Crouch from Southampton's grasp.

Crouch is being linked with a return to Fratton Park following Southampton's relegation from The Premiership.

He was sold by then-Pompey boss Redknapp to Aston Villa for £5 million three years ago before joining Saints last summer.

On his form in the Prem they will certainly have to pay a fair bit for him, i don't think pompey could afford him...

The only way that ScumKnapp will get Crouchie to stay at Stains is to have a word in Woopurts in ear about making Crouch the highest paid player there.

I reckon Crouch might be interested in re-joining us cos we are the number 1 club in Hampshire afterall!
