European: Jeremies undergoes knee surgery

Bayern Munich midfielder Jens Jeremies underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday and will miss at least a month of the Bundesliga season.

Jeremies' right knee had been bothering him for some time, and further examinations this weekend revealed the need to clean out loose cartilage from the joint.

The 30-year-old retired from the German national team last month.

"At least we know he will be available when the season starts heating up in mid-September," said Bayern coach Felix Magath.
