CITY boss Nigel Worthington today said efforts to bring in new faces in January were being hindered by other clubs quoting "silly prices" for players.

Worthy has drawn-up a shortlist of players who have caught his eye for when the Premiership transfer window opens in the New Year.

But with finances at the Club limited, the City manager said finding someone of high quality at an affordable price was proving tough.

Well they have only got about 2 million to spend which they raised through a share issue. They have been after Marlon Harewood, we payed nearer a million for him and they wont get him for less than 1.5 million. he is an out and out goalscorer and will get goals wherever he goes. I dunno what they expect to pay for him but they wont get him.....

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington has confirmed his interest in Crewe striker Dean Ashton.

Ashton has been making waves for Crewe in The Championship for the last couple of seasons and has caught the eye of a clutch of clubs.

Norwich are in desperate need of a cutting edge in a bid to boost their hopes of staying in The Premiership and Worthington has trained his sights on Ashton.

Ashton could well be open to a move to The Premiership, but Worthington is aware a deal for the 21-year-old could prove beyond their means.
