Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan would consider a takeover bid from Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Although no formal approach has been made by the Libyan Arab Foreign Investment Company (LAFICO) for the newly-promoted Premiership side, the government body Gaddafi used to buy a stake in Juventus, Jordan has been made aware of his interest.

Crystal Palace appear to have won the race to sign Hungary striker Sandor Torghelle, according to one of their rival bidders for the player.

Dutch side Roda JC have conceded defeat in their efforts to sign the 22-year-old, who currently plays for MTK Budapest.

Torghelle, who scored twice for his country in a 2-0 win over Germany in a pre-Euro 2004 friendly, was due to have a medical with the Kerkrade club but now seems set to join the newly-promoted Eagles.

Senegal midfielder Aliou Cisse has joined Barclays Premiership newcomers Crystal Palace on a year's loan from Birmingham.

The 28-year-old played in the 2002 World Cup, but found himself out of favour at St Andrews last season.

Cisse had other options, but was impressed by Palace boss Iain Dowie and is keen to help extend the Eagles' stay in the top flight after they won the First Division play-offs.
