Howard Eastman has challenged undisputed middleweight world champion Bernard Hopkins to an unlikely rematch after blaming the referee for his failure to capture the American's title. Eastman lost a unanimous points decision to Hopkins at the Staples Center in Los Angeles after ultimately failing in his attempt to take the fight by the scruff of the neck as the champion thwarted his attempts to initiate an all-out fist-fight.

The Battersea fighter was clearly second best but gave the Philadelphian one of his toughest tests before losing on the scorecards 119-110, 117-111, 116-112 in Hopkins' 20th title defence. Eastman looked game throughout and said: "I would like to thank Bernard Hopkins for this opportunity. I hope he will give me another one.
