European super-featherweight title contender Craig Docherty admits he would be chuffed if he could help land Glasgow the 2014 Commonwealth Games by winning the belt from Boris Sinitsen.
The Greater Glasgow and Clyde Valley Tourist Board are backing Docherty's fight against the Russian champion at the Kelvin Hall next month with a view to increasing the city's profile before it enters the Games' bidding war in 2007.
The Glaswegian insists he was impressed by his own experience at the Kuala Lumpa Commonwealth Games as an 18-year-old amateur and is keen to see them arrive in his home city in 10 years' time.
