Former Commonwealth lightweight champion David Burke made a winning return at the Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool on Friday night with a routine six round points win over tough Welsh southpaw Keith Jones.

Burke, 23-2-(7), had not fought since losing a unanimous 12 round points decision to Italian Stefano Zoff for the European lightweight title 15 months ago. Burke's promoters Vaughn Promotions now plan to give him two more eight rounders before hopefully securing a crack at Graham Earl for the British lightweight crown.
