Rugby, Australian Football: Buist out for season

Newcastle second row Andy Buist has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season after rupturing anterior cruciate knee ligaments against Perpignan on Saturday.

The England under-21 prospect was carried off during the Heineken Cup clash and yesterday's scan revealed the extent of the damage.

Falcons boss Rob Andrew said: "We're desperately sorry for Andy to have suffered such a serious injury at a stage in his career when he was really stepping up into the first team and performing well."
