Former ECW World champion Sabu returned to the ring for the first time in close to nine months last night, appearing for the Michigan-based All-World
Wrestling League promotion at their Ionia, Michigan event. The promotion is run by Sabu's cousin Ed Farhat Jr. (the son of the Original Sheik).
Sabu had been hospitalized for a lengthy stay due to a myriad of medical issues. During his illness, he made a number of convention appearances, was
the subject of several benefit shows, and did his first-ever shoot interview, which showed how bad he was hurting financially from the illness because
he had always gone to great extremes to protect the aura of his character in the past.
Sabu is scheduled to headline the Hardcore Homecoming show in Philadelphia, PA at the ECW Arena on Friday 6/10 facing Terry Funk and Shane Douglas in
a reprisal of "The Night the Line Was Crossed." He is also believed to be appearing at the ECW One Night Stand PPV on 6/12.
