LITTLE ROCK -- The Sun Belt Conference said Wednesday that it needs another day to decide whether Arkansas-Little Rock coach Steve Shields should be disciplined for his role in a confrontation with an Arkansas State fan in a game at Jonesboro on Feb. 10.
Shields said a fan grazed his face with a water bottle after he asked security officers to increase their presence behind UALR's bench. Videotape showed Shields trying to knock the bottle from the man's hand.
Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters said he had conducted interviews with 27 people, and talked to the Arkansas State fan Wednesday.
