The Journal Sentinel's Rob Reischel reports that the Packers may try to acquire Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck or San Diego's Drew Brees if Brett Favre retires.

Donald Driver might be planning Brett Favre's retirement party. But most around Packer headquarters still believe Favre will be Green Bay's quarterback in 2005.

Boy, they better hope so.

If Favre retires, which is something he's been contemplating since the season ended on Jan. 9, Green Bay would be forced to turn to backup Craig Nall, an unattractive free agent crop, the NFL draft or possibly make a trade. None of the scenarios are particularly attractive and Green Bay would likely spend the next couple years rebuilding.
