The Tribune's Roger Phillips reports that Ronnie Lott told radio station KNBR yesterday that the 49ers may have a secret candidate in mind for their head coaching vacancy.

Word was that USC's Pete Carroll wanted total control to revamp the system as well as a guarantee that they would be at the top of the salary cap tier for x number of years.
