Mel Kiper Jr., will keep his NFL draft act on ESPN.
Kiper, 44, ESPN's long-time NFL draft expert, agreed to a new three-year contract Tuesday following drawn-out negotiations that nearly led to his
departure.
"We appreciate Mel's ability to compromise and his commitment to ESPN over the past 22 years," said executive vice president Mark Shapiro, who met
with Kiper in New York. "We anticipate having a signed agreement by Friday."
Kiper had agreed on salary but wanted more specific language in the contract regarding his work on ESPNEWS, espn.com and ESPN Radio. Kiper was not
available for comment Tuesday afternoon.
